I think her name is Maria. I tried to talk to her but the band next to us was too loud and drowned out our voices. She was from Argentina and came to New Orleans with her church group. She had great dance moves as well.
This was at the corner of Royal and St. Peter. Hands down the best spot. Everyone that played at this corner were really good.
The instrument is called the Kora. It is of African origin.
